What CIOs say about big data

In a data-intensive environment – with 2.5 quintillion bytes of data created every year – the need to capture, manage and analyze information is an ever-increasing challenge.

In a report released earlier this month, Kevin Desouza, associate dean for research in the College of Public Programs and interim director of ASU's Decision Theater, addresses the use of big data and the opportunities for federal leaders. Federal Computer Week summarizes key findings from interviews with 28 public-sector CIOs at the federal, state and local levels regarding the challenges they face implementing big data projects.

The report, "Realizing the Promise of Big Data: Implementing Big Data Projects," was published by the IBM Center for The Business of Government.
