News21 investigation into US voting rights garners national praise

Carnegie-Knight News21 investigation "Who Can Vote?" – a 2012 student project headed by journalism professor Len Downie, Jr. – is garnering national attention including a recent Washington Post editorial.

Produced by 24 students from 11 universities, the group participated in a 10-week investigative reporting fellowship based out of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus. The fellows traveled to more than 40 cities, 21 states and one U.S. territory, making it the largest and widest reaching university-produced journalism project in history.

"Who Can Vote?" has been published in several national newspapers and websites and has generated more than 10,000 reader comments on NBC.com, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post alone.
