Families of child victims gather for support
ASU assistant professor Joanne Cacciatore’s research suggests that one of the most important steps individuals dealing with a traumatic incident can take towards healing is to connect with others who are coping with similar circumstances.
Cacciatore, a faculty member with the College of Public Program’s School of Social Work, is founder of the MISS Foundation, a support group for parents who have experienced the loss of child. She was among the featured speakers appearing at the 26th National Conference of the Parents of Murdered Children, Inc. meeting in Phoenix, Aug. 9-12.
Her research was the subject of a recent article in the Arizona Republic.
