Interdisciplinary science PhDs 'trample the boundaries'

Nearly every new Ph.D. program at Arizona State University is designed to be transdisciplinary, says Maria Allison, University Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate College.

In an April Nature article “Rethinking PhDs,” writer Alison McCook delves into ASU’s innovative approach to interdisciplinary science degrees, including the experience of ASU graduate Marc Jacofsky, Ph.D., who combined anthropology studies with engineering, mathematics, computer science, kinesiology and neurophysiology.
