Sun Devil Giving Day is ASU’s annual day of giving, during which students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters worldwide donate to the programs and causes they care about most. For more than 10 years, donors have supported everything from scholarships to travel grants, research programs, community partnerships, emergency crisis funds and more.

On Saturday, after a wet and cloudy week, the sun came out in spades for Arizona State University’s annual Open Door celebrations that kicked off at ASU’s West Valley campus.
It provided the perfect opportunity for attendees to cook s'mores in solar ovens made from aluminum-lined shoeboxes, an experiment that was just one of more than 60 interactive activities taking place on the 278-acre campus.

Fulton Schools of Engineering.

ASU’s research enterprise has leaped forward again, according to the National Science Foundation’s Higher Education Research and Development survey. With $797.2 million in research expenditures for fiscal year 2022, ASU ranked No. 38 overall (out of 637 institutions), a jump of four places from the prior fiscal year. ASU ranked in the top 4% for all universities with research expenditures, ahead of the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Purdue University and the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Season 2 of ASU Enterprise Technology's "Carpool Convos," a video series that invites leaders, technologists and visionaries to explore the future of technology and innovation from the back seat of Waymo’s fleet of autonomous vehicles, is now available to view online.
While Waymo’s autonomous vehicle calculated its route around Arizona State University's Tempe campus, backseat passengers ASU President Michael M. Crow and Chief Information Officer Lev Gonick recalled watching “The Jetsons” as kids.
“Science fiction is the way we view the future,” Crow said. “We're moving into that future where we're going to have the ability to have machines help us do tasks and help us to do things more efficiently in every possible way.”

Vice Provost Todd Sandrin, who spoke at the event, said, "It’s a subtle change that conveys a big statement about the university’s place as a partner in the western area of Maricopa County.”
