The Arizona State University Alumni Association and the Sun Devil Club will celebrate the 1975 Sun Devil football team and its perfect, undefeated season at the Legends Luncheon on Nov. 13.

The 1975 team, following its dramatic 17-14 victory over Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl, became the highest-ranked ASU team in school history during a “perfect” 12-0 season. It came in the middle of the university’s dominance of the Western Athletic Conference, under the leadership of ASU head coach Frank Kush.

In addition to honoring the players and coaches associated with the 1975 team, the event also will honor Sun Devil linebacker Bob Breunig, who recently became the 10th Sun Devil to be selected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Breunig played for the Sun Devils from 1972 to 1974, is a 10-year veteran of the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, a Super Bowl champion, a generous philanthropist and one of the notable alumnis of the Sun Devil Football program.

“The annual ASU Legends Luncheon is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Ray Anderson, vice president for university athletics. “The Legends Luncheon provides an opportunity to both honor and reflect on the success of the many legends in our rich football tradition. Certainly, the undefeated 1975 team and prolific, Hall of Fame linebacker Bob Breunig are at the pinnacle of that tradition. We are very proud to recognize both.”

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m., Nov. 13, at the Marriott Tempe at the Buttes, 2000 Westcourt Way. According to Alumni Association President Christine K. Wilkinson, this event, which has been a Homecoming Week tradition since 2008, is a fitting place to recognize the undefeated team during its 40th anniversary year.

“Legends Luncheon pays tribute to the men who built Sun Devil football,” Wilkinson said. “Bob Breunig and the 1975 team are exemplars of the excellence that is the legacy of ASU’s athletic program.”

Tickets to the luncheon are $55 for ASU Alumni Association or Sun Devil Club members and $60 for nonmembers. Tables seating 10 are $550 for members and $600 for nonmembers.
