Military couples are invited to experience a free Broadway show, April 22, as part of ASU Gammage’s new program: Operation Date Night.

ASU Gammage created the program to celebrate and honor the members of the United States military. Operation Date Night aims to give soldiers and their spouses or significant others a night away from the day-to-day stresses and to get some much-needed alone time together.

As part of the evening, participants will receive a pair of tickets to "Motown the Musical," as well as a gift card to a local restaurant.

Operation Date Night is part of American Airlines military salute at ASU Gammage and joins ASU Gammage’s other military programs, which include the military ticket fund, military family first night and Heroes Night. The American Airlines Salute at ASU Gammage enables military members and their families to see the best of Broadway each season.

Operation Date Night is made possible with funding from APS and Veterans Ticket Foundation.

Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, "Motown the Musical" is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and more.

Featuring more than 50 hits, such as “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” "Motown the Musical" tells the story behind the music as Diana, Smokey, Berry and the whole Motown family fight against the odds to create the soundtrack of change in America.
