ASU nursing faculty recognized as 'Leader to Watch'

December 18, 2014

Jennifer Mensik, instructor in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University, is featured as a “Leader to Watch” in the November/December issue of Nurse Leader, a journal published in connection with the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

In the article, Mensik discussed the future of health care and the growing need for nursing leadership at all levels of the health care system. She says there is a need to empower new generations of nurses to make a positive changes in health and health care.

“In my perspective, change would be to really help get nurses who are younger and show them they have a gift,” Mensik said. “That gift is their nursing knowledge and their understanding of health and patient care. We need to help them realize they are leaders and they can make a change.”

Mensik has a doctorate in nursing, a master's in business administration and was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing earlier this year. In addition to teaching in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Mensik has held numerous leadership positions in various nursing organizations. She also started her own consulting company and published her second book last month.
