Legal scholar Arthur Miller to keynote annual Pedrick Lecture

Professor Arthur R. Miller will give the keynote address at the eighteenth annual Willard H. Pedrick Lecture at 10 a.m., March 28, at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in Tempe.

Miller is known for his expertise in civil procedure, and is the author of more than 40 books, including co-authoring "Federal Practice and Procedure," the treatise recognized as an essential reference for judges and lawyers alike. He has long played a highly visible role in explaining and interpreting law for the general public, serving as legal editor of "Good Morning America" on ABC, hosting his own show, "Miller's Law," on Court TV and moderating numerous shows for public television.

Miller is currently a professor at New York University, following almost four decades at Harvard Law School. He has argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and in all U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. He has also served as a member and Reporter of the Advisory Committee of Civil Rules of the Judicial Conference of the U.S., and as Reporter and Advisor to the American Law Institute.

In addition to his keynote speech, professor Miller will moderate a panel discussion titled “Revisiting the Rules: Celebrating 75 years of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.”

The conference will be free and open to the public, and a continuing legal education option will be provided for members of the bar.

The Willard H. Pedrick Lecture was established in 1997 by the Pedrick family in memory of the founding dean of the College of Law. The annual lecture brings to the law school outstanding legal scholars, jurists and practitioners to enrich the intellectual life of the college and the community.
