Bus brings fresh produce, free health screenings to underserved areas

February 27, 2014

A renovated city bus will soon travel twice a week to under-served neighborhoods in Phoenix and Tempe, providing fresh produce at low prices. The Fresh Express bus, launched by the Discovery Triangle Development Corporation, will launch March 25.

Discovery Triangle created the initiative to address the lack of access to fresh and healthy food between downtown Phoenix and downtown Tempe, according to Don Keuth, president of the corporation. It will also help those who depend on public transportation, and will provide assistance with preparing food, as well as health screenings through Arizona State University’s College of Nursing & Health Innovation.
