Local filmmakers Lourdes Vasquez (standing) and Bryan Vasquez, co-founders of the nonprofit Embracing Humanity, kicked off the 2013 Seeking Justice in Arizona fall lecture series Sept. 26. The couple discussed the role of film in social change and the evolution of their documentary, "The Immigration Paradox," which looks at the complexities of immigration from the perspective of economics, sociology, philosophy, history and activism.
The lecture series, now in its 11th year, addresses critical national issues within an Arizona context and is sponsored by Justice and Social Inquiry in the School of Social Transformation, an academic unit of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
