Free tailgate event kicks off football season

September 05, 2013

The ASU community will bring Sun Devil spirit to downtown Tempe at the first Devils on Mill event of the season, at 4 p.m., Sept. 5. Devils on Mill is a student-led, pre-game tailgating event that makes game days an exciting experience and offers a cool zone with tents, misters, water and air-conditioned gaming areas to stay cool before ASU home games.

Sun Devil fans can show up to Sixth Street and Mill Avenue three hours before kick-off and enjoy free food, entertainment, giveaways and discounts from local businesses.

Devils on Mill offers fans of all ages a variety of interactive options and fun activities that include: climbing the rock wall, shooting hoops at the basketball station, playing ring toss on Sparky's real pitchfork or taking the frisbee challenge with the Women's Ultimate Frisbee team.

As part of Devils on Mill, merchants will offer a "Taste of Tempe," with free food sampling. Participating restaurants include: CASA/Sun Ba, Macayo's Mexican Restaurant, Paletas Betty and Potbelly Sandwich Shop.

Free Devils on Mill shuttle service for students at the ASU Polytechnic campus and West campus will be available to the pre-game event and return back to each respective campus following the game. The shuttle will depart from the Polytechnic campus at 4:30 p.m., outside of Century Hall and from the West campus at 4 p.m., at the North University Shuttle stop.

Intercampus shuttles run to each of the ASU campuses and are free of charge for students, faculty and staff.
