Current high school students and recent graduates have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge video and audio production techniques during a week-long workshop at ASU’s West campus, June 24-28.

Participants in the Digital Video/Audio Production Workshop will work with professional-quality hardware and software including ProTools for audio and Final Cut Pro for video.

The workshop is offered by ASU’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, the core college on the West campus.

“We will explore examples of both popular and experimental media, with a goal of inspiring students to create original videos with original soundtracks,” said Barry Moon, associate professor in New College’s School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies. “Students are not required to have any prior experience in video or audio technologies, but having a creative bent will be an advantage.”

The majority of the week will be devoted to gaining hands-on experience in recording studio operations, microphone and camera techniques, and audio/video editing and production. “With the proliferation of digital media into so many professions, recording and production skills are becoming increasingly important to young professionals,” Moon said.

Moon will lead the workshop along with Dennis Marsollier, a media specialist in New College.

The workshop will meet daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., during the week of June 24. The cost is $200. For more information and to register, contact Mary Bauer in New College at (602) 543-2809 or mary.e.bauer@asu.edu.
