On the 4th day of giving, think globally

December 16, 2012

As Arizona State University gears up to win the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, Dec. 29, in San Francisco, the university is taking the opportunity to offer suggestions for 12 Days of Giving in order to make a big difference this season and celebrate the university’s outreach role in the community.

Day 4
Take a step in solving the world's challenges.

Social entrepreneurship is thriving at ASU, as young Sun Devils find ways to improve the quality of life all over the world in areas such as education, sustainability and health care.

One such entrepreneurial venture is called G3Box – a portable maternity clinic that can deliver health solutions to women in Africa in hopes of diminishing the rate of maternal mortality.

G3Box (Generating Global Containers for Good) converts 20- to 40-foot-long steel shipping containers into mobile medical clinics, and was named the College Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011.

The ASU startup's CEO, Susanna Young, says you can't just throw money at a problem – you need the resources and the people to come together to create a solution.

Young and her G3Box team were the subject of a recent story on Health2Fit.com, which can be accessed below.
