Sun Devils to face Navy in 2012 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl

Arizona State will play in San Francisco on Dec. 29 at AT&T Park

The Arizona State University football team has accepted a bid to play in the 12th Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco on Dec. 29 against the Navy Midshipmen, the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl announced Dec. 2.

The game will be played at AT&T Park, home of the 2012 World Series champion San Francisco Giants, and will kick off at 1 p.m., Pacific (2 p.m., Arizona) time. ESPN2 will provide national television coverage of the matchup.

"The annual goal for every college football team is to have a successful season and play in a bowl game,” head coach Todd Graham said. “We are very proud to have reached that goal by participating in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against a worthy opponent such as the U.S. Naval Academy. It will be an honor to travel to and participate in this wonderful bowl experience in one of America’s greatest cities. It will be our pleasure to fulfill all of the expectations of The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl committee and of their community and to represent the Sun Devil Nation with class and character.”
 
Arizona State will be making its 26th bowl appearance and its second in the past two seasons. This will be the Sun Devils' first appearance in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

The Sun Devils finished the regular season with a 7-5 mark and a 5-4 record in Pac-12 play. ASU won three conference road games, including a 41-34 Territorial Cup victory in Tucson, for just for the fifth time in school history.
The Sun Devils have never faced Navy in their history. The Midshipmen, who are currently 7-4 and finish their regular season against Army on Dec. 8 in Philadelphia, will be making their 18th all-time bowl appearance and ninth in t

he last 10 years. Navy’s last postseason game was a 35-14 loss to San Diego State in the 2010 Poinsettia Bowl.
“Playing in a nationally televised bowl game against a storied program like Navy for a chance at an eighth win is a fitting way for this senior class to end our Sun Devil careers,” senior linebacker Brandon Magee said. “We are excited to act as the ambassadors for this program, university and community during our stay in San Francisco, and I hope Sun Devil fans will be up there supporting us.”

Ticket prices for the game range from $50 to $85 each, and can be purchased online at www.sundeviltickets.com, over the phone by calling their personal ticket representative or in person at the Sun Devil Ticket Office.

ASU student season ticket holders can purchase tickets beginning at 9 a.m., Dec. 7, and general public tickets will go on sale beginning at 9 a.m., Dec. 10.
