ASU receives grant to support nurse practitioner students

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded a $339,276 grant to the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University to provide financial support for primary care nurse practitioner students with the goal to improve access to high quality primary health care.

Katherine Kenny, Doctor of Nursing Practice program director at the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation, is the principle investigator for the grant.

By increasing the number of primary care nurse practitioner students who are enrolled in nurse practitioner programs, access to quality health care is improved, positively impacting health care and patient outcomes across their lifespan.

The HRSA grant titled, “Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship,” has awarded more than $339,000 to primary care nurse practitioner students for the 2012-2013 year, and has offered the potential of an additional $349,000 for the 2013-2014 year.

This award assists the College of Nursing and Health Innovation in its mission to pursue an environment in which students are valued for their individual strengths and diversity.
