Space: In full view at ASU Sept. 28

There’s a new name, but the excitement and sense of discovery are the same.

Arizona State University’s Astronomy Open House is now ASU’s Earth & Space Open House.

And the next open house is set to take place from 8 to 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, at on the roof of the Bateman Physical Sciences Center H-Wing roof, on ASU‘s Tempe campus.

“The name change helps reflect the excellent relationship we've had over the years with ASU Geo Club, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter team, Mars Ed, EarthScope, NASA Space Grant and others,” said Teresa Ashcraft.

The Sept. 28 open house comes with a bonus: Before the event, at 7:15 p.m., there will be a free 30-minute preview 3-D Astronomy Show in the new Marston Exploration Theater in the newly dedicated Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building IV (ISTB4).

Visitors also will be able to stop in at the grand opening of the new Center for Meteorite Studies gallery in ISTB 4, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m.

Volunteers will guide guests from the astronomy show to the open house location. Walk time is approximately 15 minutes.

Future Earth & Space Open Houses are scheduled for Oct. 26, Nov. 30, Jan. 25, Feb. 22 and March 29.
