ASU School of Dance director co-curates NYC world arts festival

July 09, 2012

Simon Dove, director of the ASU School of Dance in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, is co-curator of Crossing the Line, an arts festival of interdisciplinary work and performances by artists from around the world, to take place this fall in New York City by the French Institute Alliance Francaise, a New York French cultural center.

Dove and Gideon Lester, director of theater programs at Bard College, with Lili Chopra, FIAF's artistic director, have created a festival that will feature guitarist and composer Bill Frisell, Brazilian visual artist Bel Borba, and theater director David Levine, in addition to Faustin Linyekula, a Congolese director and choreographer.

Dove joined the Herberger Institute as director of its School of Dance in 2007 and has moved this nationally acclaimed school, known for its innovative program and celebrated choreography, to the forefront of university dance programs that explore the role of dance in the 21st century and how dance can help us understand ourselves and the world around us.
