Sander van der Leeuw in Italy
Sander van der Leeuw (first row, far right) was recognized in 2012 as a United Nations Champion of the Earth for his research in human-environmental relations and the scientific study of innovation as a societal process. During his career he often worked with social scientists and scholars from around the world and from many different disciplines.
This photo is of the European Information for Society as a Complex System (ISCOM) project team who met in 2006 in Venice, Italy. Other directors of the project included Geoffrey West, a professor and past president of the Santa Fe Institute, (first row, left) and next to him, David A. Lane, a professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy.
