CTI students create wall scaling device for Air Force

The product: It's called a personal wall scaling device, and it was created by seven students at ASU's College of Technology and Innovation.

The mission: As part of a design competition funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory, the team of students was tasked with prototyping a one-man system that would be used to scale a wall, and needed to be transport-friendly.

Designing, building and testing their iProject, the students had no guide to help them. They were in uncharted territory.

CTI's iProjects are industry-sponsored capstone projects that all seniors in the college are required to complete before they graduate.

Team member Kevin Scott said he was excited to be the one who got to test the device. "We set up a safety line, but I never doubted it even for a second," he says. "I just knew it was going to work."
