Community-building: Cultures cross in 'Handed On'

Posted: May 15, 2012 | 5 min 04 sec

ASU alum and artist Kelsey Viola Wiskirchen combines storytelling, imagery and weaving into a compelling interactive experience of art, memory and transparency.

"I am driven to engage in work done with others and which also has a tradition of bringing communities together," says Wiskirchen about her work. "When I weave and sew, I become aware of my connection to people across cultures and to those who create textiles as an act of survival. The repetitive nature of these processes allows me to reflect on time spent with others."

This video documents Wiskirchen's work and her process in "Handed On."
