Expert repurposes technology, advances pipeline integrity management

Events during the past decade have called attention to the economic and environmental impacts that pipeline bursts can cause. Professor Samuel Ariaratnam at ASU’s Del E. Webb School of Construction researched the issue of pipeline integrity management and was involved in the testing and development of a free-swimming acoustical tool for detecting leaks in oil and natural gas pipelines with high accuracy.
