Wall to Wall Tour
February 28, 2012

Jeremy Staat, an ASU alumnus and veteran, will be making a stop in Tempe, Ariz., March 8-9, as part of the “Wall to Wall” tour to raise awareness for veteran services and causes throughout the nation.

The ride began at the Wall of Valor in Bakersfield, Calif., on Feb. 19, and is stretching 4,623 miles over the course of 100 days to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

On March 8 Staat and friend Welsey Barrientos will arrive outside Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe at 2 p.m. Friends and media are welcome to cheer them on as they ride into town. Both Staat and Barrientos are available for press interviews and photo opportunities at this time.

The pair also will be at the Pat Tillman Veterans Center at 3 p.m., March 9, speaking about their military experiences and taking questions from the audience. RSVP to this event, no later than March 6, by contacting militaryadvocate@asu.edu to ensure a seat.

Staat, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., came to Arizona State University in the spring 1996. He soon became a member of the Sun Devil football team where his athletic ability caught the eye of many professional National Football League (NFL) scouts. Staat went on to have stints with the Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams.

After retiring from the NFL, Staat joined the U.S. Marines to serve his country. Upon successfully completing basic training with knowledge of the weapons systems, Staat was eventually deployed to Iraq. While abroad he worked to bring basic necessities to children in villages with the help of churches in the United States.

In 2007 when Staat returned from service, he decided to finish education via ASU Online. He proudly received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences. Staat then created the Jeremy Staat Foundation. Through the foundation, Staat works as a motivational speaker in classrooms throughout the nation, recalling the life experiences of himself and others on the Veteran Speaking Board.
