Crow calls for end of Bowl Championship Series

February 10, 2012

In a recent visit to the downtown Phoenix offices of The Arizona Republic, ASU President Michael Crow spoke with sports staff and business reporter Craig Harris about the current Bowl Championship Series (BCS) system and other issues facing college athletics today.

In his Feb. 9 article in The Arizona Republic, Harris reported that Crow is one of the first major university presidents to publicly denounce the BCS – a system Crow criticized for "spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on lobbyists to influence Congress."

Crow is calling for the end of college football's BCS, Harris writes. He is "pushing for an eight-team playoff that would leave the best teams out of the Fiesta Bowl and other BCS games."
