Problem-solvers aim to bring bike-sharing to Phoenix

Posted: Jan 10, 2012 | 1 min 0 sec

Editor's Note: Last fall ASU launched the 10,000 Solutions Project, a problem-solving platform anyone, anywhere, can use to confront local and global challenges. In the last few months, the collaborative online community has submitted more than 1,300 solutions – and the list is growing.

This week's featured solution is bike-sharing from the creators Team Ride and Bike who propose a system that uses solar-powered kiosks and the Phoenix Valley Metro Light Rail to enhance Phoenix usability.

"Our solution addresses the rising concerns of traffic, pollution and health in Phoenix. By implementing a bike-share system, we can reduce the number of cars on the road, which decreases traffic and pollution, and increase physical activity and general health of Phoenix citizens."

Team Ride and Bike originates from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) program.
