ASU symposium highlights weather forecasts, their uses

Posted: Sep 28, 2011 | 1 min 37 sec

ASU is hosting the 6th Southwest Hydrometeorology Symposium to discuss weather predictions and forecasts provided to users by government agencies like the National Weather Service and NOAA as well as by universities and other groups.

ASU climatologist and research professor Nancy Selover helped organize the symposium. Topics for discussion include drought, water resources, NOAA's climate services, and extreme weather events including excessive heat, severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, dust storms and hail.

Lessons learned from the symposium will serve to improve product usefulness to the user communities and discover and address information gaps which currently exist between providers and customers.
