Tierney, partner in the Phoenix law firm of Sacks Tierney P.A., presented the first lecture in the 2011 Seeking Justice in Arizona Lecture Series, sponsored by Justice and Social Inquiry in the School of Social Transformation. Tierney spoke about his experiences in the South in his address: "Mississippi Civil Rights in the Mid-Sixties: Lessons for Today." Freshman Zachary Weiss, a freshman mechanical engineering major from Houston, gets some assistance with his Intro to Engineering assignment from Ashwini Muralidahar, an engineering grad student, at the Engineering Tutoring Center. Steve Beckis from Intel Corporation talks to a group of students at the A2C2 and IBM High Performance Computing Event, Sept. 14. Steven Levy, senior editor of Wired and author of “Hackers” chats with journalism students, Matt Haldane (left) and Salvador Rodriguez (right) prior to his talk, "From Apple to Google: Reporting Inside the Internet Business." The talk was part of the “Must See Monday” series of events at the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald stopped by the Tempe campus, Sept. 20, to speak to students as part of the Film and Media Studies program in the Department of English. The duo is appearing in a remake of the 1984 classic "Footloose." A student uses a phone to record the “Footloose” stars talk, during their visit to the Tempe campus. During their visit, the young actors gave advice on how to prepare for the movie business and how to succeed in the industry. Every Tuesday night throughout the school year, art students, faculty, and guests converge upon the ASU Step Gallery for the openings of new art exhibitions. This week, "Alternative to What? A Juried Exhibition of Alternative Photographic Processes" unveiled a group of outstanding photographic work by Herberger students.
