Rube Goldberg machine teaches children design, engineering

A unique summer camp at ASU's College of Technology and Innovation gave children the opportunity to learn about engineering and design by creating a Rube Goldberg machine.

"Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist who figured out how to draw cartoons to accomplish simple tasks in very complex ways," assistant professor Jennifer Bekki says.

Students in the camp also interacted with simultaneous camps at Purdue University and Trinidad – with all three machines were connected via the internet – giving the students an opportunity to interface and work with students nationally and internationally.
