ASU expert predicts future disasters for wildfire victims

Posted: Jun 16, 2011 | 3 min 09 sec

Randy Cerveny, an ASU President's Professor of Geographical Sciences, says that victims of wildfires in Arizona also could be vulnerable to flash flooding caused by Arizona's monsoon season. The fires strip away vegetation that helps hold down flash flooding, Cerveny says.

He cites the aftermath of the Schultz Fire near Flagstaff last year and the flooding that followed.
