Biodesign team builds nanoforms

ASU's Hao Yan and his research team at the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University recently developed a new strategy to build nanoscale structures, using DNA as a scaffold for assembly.

This animation shows the contour of a sphere made of rings of DNA double helices connected together (staple strand crossovers are not shown here), using Yan's group’s new technique of DNA origami. Additional structures assembled through this method also are displayed.
