Moot court team places 2nd among US schools in international round

March 31, 2011

The College of Law’s Jessup competition moot court team took second place among U.S. schools and tied for fifth among all schools during the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition’s White & Case International Round in Washington, D.C., on March 20-26.

The team, including Rob Gordon, Adam Reich, Jared Sutton and Sam Efird, also made history by being the first ASU team to advance to the competition’s quarterfinals, as well as the first team to make it to the international round in more than a decade.

In February, the team took first place in the regional round, which advanced them to the international round in D.C.

Each year, thousands of law students around the world form teams to address a particular problem as part of the Jessup competition. Teams this year were asked to address the legality of the use of unmanned drones and international anti-corruption law.
