Program for underserved teens to begin another season

Posted: Mar 24, 2011 | 5 min 11 sec

As Arizona State University gears up for its summer sessions – a vast range of day camps and learning opportunities for children of all ages from throughout the community – Conexiones, a project of Alt^I (Applied Learning Technologies Institute), will embark on another summer of connecting underserved and migrant teens to technology and higher education.

Over the span of 17 years, the ASU outreach program aims to serve students whose parents are itinerant agricultural workers, moving frequently from one school to another, and who have limited English language skills. The program's goal is to engage the students with technology literacy, the arts and communication skills, and to increase access to educational opportunities.
