EarthFair 2010 is West campus celebration of Earth Day

It was 40 years ago this month that International Earth Day was hatched, an event that many mark as the beginning of the modern environmental movement.

On April 20 at Arizona State University’s West campus, EarthFair 2010 will celebrate the 40th Earth Day birthday with vendor pavilions, a dumpster dive, an entertainment stage, food booths and more.  The event for West campus students, faculty and staff takes place on Fletcher Lawn from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Among the pavilions will be information and merchandise realting to “Learning to Live, Shop, Earn and Go ‘Green.’”  The event will promote a more sustainable "living local" motto by featuring hometown food and merchandise vendors, along with local entertainment.

The entertainment sage will headline the band "The Wiley One," an Arizona-born group that has gained a national following through its youthful blend of acoustic hip-hop and blues that features an environmental message.

West campus students, faculty and staff also have a chance to win a $25 EarthFair 2010 gift certificate by completing a survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JY75LBD.

The event is free and is sponsored by the ASU West campus Office of Student Engagement, ASU West campus Sustainability Committee and ASU Global Institute of Sustainability.
