HR launches new business center site, services for management

March 23, 2010

To have one university in many places can be a formidable logistical challenge when it comes to management of services for employees. In order to better serve internal audiences, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) will launch this week a new Business Center site.

With more than 30 guides and multiple links to services, the new HR Business Center will allow ASU management to establish or modify a position, cross-reference position profiles, access guidelines for time reporting, and adjust payroll and salary actions through a single portal.

According to Kevin Salcido, interim associate vice president of Human Resources, the site is result of long process of adjustment and capacity building.

“We recognized the need for the business center since we launched the PeopleSoft system in 2007," Salcido said. "The implementation changed virtually every major HR process at ASU. We’ve developed and published new guides as the new processes stabilized, but they were never centralized into one location. We want our clients to embrace the business center as a tool to help them be more efficient.”

Once the design team at OHR had lined-up all necessary collaterals, it took six weeks to put all elements together.

As part of their continuous efforts to service clients, OHR will focus in the months to come on the development of a number of training programs, particularly instructor-led classroom experiences that can be made available to all new or returning users.
