Making physics a weapon in war on cancer

Posted: Oct 27, 2009 | 11 min 47 sec

Paul Davies, a theoretical physicist and cosmologist, says that physicists are very good at thinking about complex problems and cutting through the complexities to get to the heart of the matter; to discover the deep principals that make something tick. Those characteristics make them a good fit for a fresh approach to cancer research. Davies, who is director of the BEYOND Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science at ASU, heads up a new Center for Convergence of Physical Science and Cancer Biology, with funding from the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute.
