Event to provide details on medical careers

March 11, 2009

Anyone interested in pursuing a career in a medical-related field can gather information and talk with medical school representatives during a Pre-Health Conference on Wednesday, March 25. Hosted by Arizona State University’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, the event at ASU’s West campus is set for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the La Sala Ballroom at 4701 W. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix.

The Pre-Health Conference will feature sessions led by representatives from the University of Arizona, A.T. Still University, and Midwestern University, along with practicing professionals from a variety of health care fields.

“This event provides a great opportunity for students in any major to find out about the medical career options and educational paths available to them once they complete a bachelor’s degree,” says Nikki Bonnet, a student support specialist in ASU’s New College. “Attendees can learn more about various potential career paths, whether they plan to pursue an M.D. or D.O. degree or become a pharmacist, dentist, optometrist, or physician’s assistant.”

The Pre-Health Conference will start with an information fair, giving attendees the chance to talk one-on-one with representatives from medical schools, test preparation companies, and pre-med student clubs on ASU’s campuses across the Valley. Light refreshments will be served.
