Men’s and women’s basketball march on

ASU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are preparing for the next step in postseason play with a big night planned for Tuesday evening.

The No. 1 seeded men will play at home against two-time defending national champion Florida in the NIT quarterfinals at 6 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena. The women will play Duke in the second round of the NCAA tournament in College Park Maryland.

ASU’s men, 21-12 and 9-9 in the Pac-10 under second-year coach Herb Sendek, continues its season with a chance to become the nation's most improved team from one year ago. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

The winner of the game will advance to the tournament’s semifinals April 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

After winning its opening round game in the NCAA Tournament, the women’s basketball team, under Head Coach Charli Turner Thorne, will play on ESPN2 at 4 p.m.

The women's team earned a No. 6 seed in the Oklahoma City Region of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The Sun Devils, finished the season with a 22-10 record, including 14-4 in the Pac-10. This is the team’s fourth straight bid to the NCAA tournament and sixth in eight years. In 2007, ASU advanced to the Elite Eight, one win shy of reaching the tournament’s Final Four.
