ASU softball hosts food drive and Marshall in a doubleheader

March 24, 2008

The top-ranked ASU Softball team will hit the diamond again tomorrow night as they host the Marshall Thundering Herd in a doubleheader in Tempe at Farrington Stadium. The first game will kick-off at 5 p.m. with the second following approximately 20 minutes after the culmination of the first.

The match-up will be the first the schools have ever seen of each other in program history and the last non-conference match-up the Sun Devils will have before entering conference play this weekend.

In addition the Sun Devil Softball has teamed up with St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance to help eliminate hunger this season. All fans who bring a canned food item to the game on Tuesday will be entered into a drawing to win an official bat signed by the ASU Softball Team. Fans will receive one entry per can, so the more cans you bring, the better chance you have to win! The drawing will take place during the second game. As a thank you to Sun Devil supporters, fans who donate a canned food item will also receive $2 general admission.

Suggested food items to donate (must be non-perishable):

-Peanut butter

-Tuna

-Canned vegetables/fruit

-Rice

-Pasta

-Beans

*No glass containers

The Sun Devil Softball team would like to thank all of their fans that have supported them through the 2008 campaign thus far and hope to see their continued support throughout the rest of the season!
