An ASU professor and team of colleauges have ranked Phoenix the 11th fittest among 15 of America's largest metropolitan areas, in an effort to educate communities about physcial activity.
The Greater Phoenix area ranked 11th fittest out of 15 of America's largest metropolitan areas, according to a report released by the American College of Sports Medicine.
Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk had other plans when Arizona State University President Michael Crow asked her to take ASU's nursing college to a new level three years ago.
"As we move into celebrating the Bicentennial of Florence Nightingale's birth, and drawing from our global health, scientific and educational initiatives, we continue her tradition of preparing nurse leaders, scholars and clinicians to meet the health care challenges of the 21st century that are grounded in the principles of evidence-based practice."
UnitedHealthcare is providing a $700,000 grant that will enable the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation to launch a mobile health initiative that will bring essential primary care health services to underserved communities throughout Arizona.
The ASU College of Nursing & Health Innovation concluded its 50th anniversary celebration with a Gala Dinner attended by nearly 400 alumni, community partners, faculty, staff and students.
