Ike Digou (men's basketball - Nigeria)

July 20, 2012

2002-2005 Sun Devil Ike Diogu (men's basketball - Nigeria) was the 2004-05 Pac-10 Player of the Year and All-America pick. Digou put Nigeria on his back and led it to an 88-73 win over the Dominican Republic in the final qualifying game in Caracas, Venezuela to send Nigeria to the Olympics despite their extreme underdog status heading into the FIBA Qualifying Tournament. It will be the first-ever Olympic berth for the Nigerian National Team.  in 2004-2005, he became the first player in Pac-10 history to lead the league in scoring (22.6 ppg.), rebounding (9.8 rpg.) and blocks (2.34 bpg.) and became the first Sun Devil consensus All-American in the process. Diogu's 248 made free throws in his junior season broke his own Pac-10 record that he set in 2003-2004 of 243.
