Professor pens article in state bar business section publication
Myles V. Lynk, the Peter Kiewit Foundation Professor of Law and the Legal Profession at the College of Law, has written an article in the June 2011 issue of The Arizona Business Lawyer, a convention issue of the State Bar of Arizona’s annual meeting, June 15-17, in Tucson, Ariz.
The article, entitled “The Business Law Section’s Program for Law Students at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law,” describes the process by which Lynk and others created a program for students, particularly members of the College’s Corporate and Business Law Students Association (CABLS), to help prepare them for legal practice.
Held in both 2010 and 2011, the program featured panel discussions with members of the State Bar of Arizona’s Business Law Section. It was designed to bring the reality of law practice onto campus and into the classroom, and to give students a sense of the variety of legal practices encompassed in the term, “business law.” A question/answer session followed each presentation, as did a networking dinner for the law students and attorneys.
“From the law school’s perspective, we would be happy to make this two-part program an annual event on the law school’s spring calendar,” Lynk wrote. “It has been a wonderful way to help students learn about the variety of practices that encompass business law. The student organization CABLS would also like to see the panel presentation and dinner continue; this has been a great learning experience and networking opportunity for its members.”

Lynk’s areas of interest include business and corporate law, civil procedure, legal ethics and professional responsibility, bioethics in health care and law and literature. He is a Faculty Fellow in the Center for Law, Science & Innovation’s Public Health Law and Policy Program, and an Affiliated Faculty in Justice and Social Inquiry, at the ASU School of Social Transformation. In 2008-2009, Lynk was a Visiting Honors Faculty Fellow in ASU’s Barrett, The Honors College. In 2010, he received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the College of Law’s Alumni Association. From 2004 to 2010, he served as ASU’s NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative.
