Angela Allen recipient of Nurse of the Year Award

Angela Allen will receive the Nurse of the Year Award for Community Service presented by the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA).

The award recognizes outstanding and exemplary community service within in the nursing profession. Allen and other award winners will be honored at the NBNA Institute of Excellence Ruby Award Ceremony, July 15, in Indianapolis.

Allen is a clinical instructor at ASU's College of Nursing & Health Innovation and is the vice president of the Greater Phoenix Black Nurses Association. She has more than 20 years of experience in health care and primary geriatrics. Her professional career include more than five professional positions as a staff nurse, nurse manager, nurse supervisor, secondary educator (teacher), secondary administrator (principal) and post-secondary educator (faculty associate).

She is a member of 22 professional organizations, 10 of which are aligned with her research. Angela holds active leadership roles in four of the organizations and works collaboratively with organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Center for African American Health in Arizona, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and National League of Nursing. She has presented on her research and cultural-related topics locally, national and internationally.
