'It's Time' launch event at the MU By Lisa Robbins | April 12, 2011 ASU's much-hyped "It's Time" social media campaign culminated in an April 12 event at the Memorial Union on ASU's Tempe campus, where athletics leaders unveiled a new font and pitchfork design and new uniforms donning an added color: black. The new athletics apparel was available for purchase immediately following the unveiling. Eager Sun Devils and sports fans alike form a line for the brand new gear. Basketball sophomore Trent Lockett models the new uniform for the cameras. Along with ASU athletic icons such as Frank Kush and Jeff Van Rapphorst, a throng of students, student-athletes, university leaders and local media attended the event. Vice President of ASU Athletics Lisa Love shows her Sun Devil pride with the pitchfork hand sign. Love was escorted onto the stage by Sparky and was a key speaker for the event. ASU football legend Jeff Van Rapphorst holds up the new pitchfork helmets. Lisa Love noted that "now it's time to really fear the fork." A tuxedo-clad Sparky holds his pitchfork. Select student-athletes modeled the new uniforms for each sport. Sun Devil spirit was in full force as the crowd cheered. Three football players model the new uniforms. The event was themed around the power of three, as illustrated by the pitchfork, with nods to ASU's past, present and future. And no athletics event would be complete without Sparky. The highly anticipated event put many fears about Sparky's departure to rest. Sparky is here to stay.
