ASU students set to build Habitat home for family

September 17, 2010

Contributions to the effort are welcome

ASU’s Department of Information Systems Club (DISC) and Beta Alpha Psi, an honor society for accounting students, are joining together with PricewaterhouseCoopers to make home ownership a reality for one Phoenix family.

The effort, called BuildFusion, is spearheaded by ASU senior David Roman, president of DISC, and will bring the Phoenix accountancy firm together with university students from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 25, to build the home for a family of three. The effort provides an opportunity for all to give back to the community and provide a home for one special family, Roman said.

“As an added bonus, the joint community service project gives students the opportunity to work alongside professionals who may one day be recruiting them,” Roman said. “You’ve heard of making connections on the golf course, well we’ll be making them on the rafter beams in a Habitat for Humanity home.”

Both DISC and Beta Alpha Psi provide ASU students with career development and leadership skills, and include and advance priorities of community service, ethical, social and public responsibility.

The ASU students are raising money for the BuildFusion project and members of the university community are welcome to contribute. Follow the link below to securely donate through Paypal. The goal is to raise $2,500, but sky’s the limit!
