Silent auction for student who lost leg in Haiti earthquake

February 09, 2010

Christa Brelsford, a doctoral student in ASU’s School of Sustainability (SOS), was volunteering with her brother at an adult-literacy project near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As a result of injuries sustained in the Jan. 12, 7.0 earthquake, Brelsford lost her right leg below the knee.

In addition to being a deeply committed SOS student, Brelsford is a talented and passionate rock climber and runner.

There will be a silent auction from 6:30 p.m. to midnight (auction closes at 8pm), Feb. 11, at Boulders on Broadway, 530 W. Broadway Rd., Tempe, to raise money for medical costs not covered by insurance, a climbing-specific prosthesis, and other costs associated with getting back to school and a normal life.
