KTVK-Channel 3 News in Phoenix recently interviewed Arizona State University engineering faculty members and students for a report on the outlook for the construction industry.

Reporter Frank Camacho found students in the Del E. Webb SChool of Construction, a part of ASU's Ira A Fulton School of Engineering, are optimistic about their future job prospects despite the nation's economic recession and a downturn in the construction industry.

Construction student Kyle Drummond said he remains committed to a career in the field. Edd Gibson, chair of the construction school, said educators and students are maintaining a positive perspective during challenging economic times.

Ed Kavanzanjian, an associate professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment,  said graduating construction students can still find opportunities in the industry if they're willing to explore a variety of options and different locales.
