Women's tennis off to San Diego for ITA Regional Championships

The Arizona State women's tennis team is back in action this week as they head to San Diego for the ITA Regional Championships. The tournament, hosted by the University of San Diego and San Diego State University, will run from Thursday, October 22 through Monday, October 24th.

Who's Traveling?
The Sun Devils will travel five of their athletes. Two-time All-American Kelcy McKenna will be making the trip along with fellow All-American doubles partner Micaela Hein. Junior Ashlee Brown and the Sun Devils two sophomores Michelle Brycki and Sianna Simmons will also head to San Diego.

The Best of the Southwest
The Sun Devils will be competing in the Southwest Regional. The teams they are lined up to compete against include Arizona, Cal Poly, CSU-Fullerton, CSU-Northridge, UC Irvine, UCLA, USC, UC-Riverside, UCSB, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego State and University of San Diego.

Rank 'Em High
Following last season's All-American run, McKenna entered the preseason rankings slotted at No. 7. Senior Nadia Abdala is listed at No. 35 while Hein checks in at No. 68. In doubles, the team of Hein and McKenna were recognized after earning All-American honors last season as they were awarded a ranking of 12th.

Tourney Time
The Sun Devils have already competed in two tournaments this fall. The team headed up to Berkeley for the Cal-Nike Invitational. The All-American duo of McKenna and Hein reached the semi-finals before falling to Andrea Remynse and Yasmin Schnak of UCLA. The two then went to compete in the prestigious All-American Championships.

Up Next
The Sun Devils will head to New Haven, Conn., for the National Individual Indoors on November 5-8.
