The next generation of nonprofit leaders in Phoenix now have the opportunity to make an impact as a group, with the launch the local chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN). YNPN promotes an efficient, viable, and inclusive nonprofit sector that supports the growth, learning, and development of young professionals. Nationally, YNPN has over 10,000 members in 15 chapters across the U.S.

The ASU Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management (CNLM) is providing staff assistance and resources for the new chapter, as well as tools for collaboration with local nonprofits.

"The need for 'Next Generation' leadership of the nonprofit sector is one of the issues discussed widely in our field these days. It is encouraging that a network of young professionals is emerging to not only bolster the development of existing nonprofit professionals but to encourage other youthful leaders to consider opportunities as salaried professionals in the sector," said Dr. Robert F. Ashcraft, director of CNLM and professor of nonprofit studies at ASU. "We are delighted to help incubate the YNPN idea in Greater Phoenix and across Arizona."

The Phoenix chapter of YNPN will hold an informal first meeting and networking reception 5:30-8:30 p.m., Jan. 25, at the Ritz Carlton, 2401 E. Camelback Rd. in Phoenix. There is no cost to attend.

“Our goal is to build an effective social and professional support network for young professionals involved in the Phoenix nonprofit community,” said Amber Martinez, YNPN Phoenix founding member. “YNPN Phoenix is part of a national movement of that will revolutionize how the nonprofit sector communicates, collaborates, and creates social change.”

The mission of the Arizona State University Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management (CNLM) is to help build the capacity of the social sector by enhancing the effectiveness of those who lead, manage, and support nonprofit organizations.
