Arizona State University reminds high school seniors that in order to be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships for fall 2008, they must apply for admission to ASU by December 1, 2007.

ASU has a strong tradition of recognizing excellence in high school student performance through its Arizona and national scholarship programs. This fall, 583 National Merit Scholars and 291 National Hispanic Scholars are enrolled as undergraduate students at ASU, firmly maintaining ASU's position among the top schools in the nation for the enrollment of students recognized by these programs.

ASU welcomed more than 1,800 President and Provost Scholars from Arizona to the fall freshman class, a 12% increase from the prior year. The President and Provost Scholarships recognize the highest levels of performance in high school among Arizona students.

“We have found that top high school students are seeking out the high caliber that our academic programs in partnership with the Barrett honors experience can provide,” says Missy Pizzo, assistant dean for Undergraduate Admissions. “They also want the energy and vast opportunities that only a university like ASU can offer."

“ASU was the best choice for me,” says Angel Lopez, sophomore biology major from Yuma, Arizona, who is studying on a President’s Scholarship and a Gates Millennium Scholarship. “There are so many friendly people here, always helping me be successful."
