Women's tennis opens season at Cal/Nike Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - The 2007-2008 ASU Women's Tennis tournament season will begin play this weekend as the Sun Devils travel to Berkeley to compete in the Cal/Nike Invitational. Also competing this weekend will be members of the Stanford Cardinal, Cal Golden Bear and Arizona Wildcat squads along with several non-conference teams.

Play begins each day at 8:30 a.m. with doubles matches (singles start at approximately 10 a.m.) and goes until approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Sept. 29. Sunday's start time is also 8:30 a.m., but matches will conclude in the early afternoon. Matches will be played at the Hellman Tennis Complex and the Channing Tennis Courts. The tournament is one of the biggest pre-season tennis tournaments in the country and will feature California, Arizona, Arizona State, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northwestern, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and UC Davis. The Sun Devils will travel their entire squad and will look to showcase their new faces in both singles and doubles. Three doubles teams of Jessica Leitch and Micaela Hein, Laila Abdala and Lauren Megale and Nadia Abdala and Kelcy McKenna will all be competing.
